World Quaker Day 2025: Love Your Neighbour

  • This event has passed.

5 October

On Sunday 5 October 2025, Friends around the world will mark World Quaker Day. This year’s theme, announced by the Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC), is “Love your neighbour”, drawing from the words of Galatians 5:14: “For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’”

Tim Gee, General Secretary of FWCC, shared in his letter to yearly meetings:
“There are many forces today encouraging us to hate our neighbour. I feel certain that we must see what Love can do.”

Friends in Australia are invited to take part in ways that feel true to their meeting and context. This could include:

  • Welcoming people who regularly use your meeting house into a Meeting for Worship
  • Holding a worship or discussion focused on loving our neighbours—locally or globally
  • Involving children and young people in Meeting that day
  • Taking action in solidarity with migrants, refugees, or others experiencing exclusion

More ideas and resources are available from FWCC at fwcc.world/worldquakerday.

As we look toward 5 October, may we listen for how Love is calling us to act.
