Join Pacific neighbors seeking nuclear justice and decolonised faith communities (Syd, Melb, Canb)

Quakers Australia are co-hosting with the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons and others a delegation from the Pacific. Our guests including leaders of the Pacific Conference of Churches and those from communities directly impacted by nuclear weapons ’test’ detonations. Organising this visit has been a deeply spiritual experience for those involved, as we’ve been reminded of the long history of resistance to these nuclear bombs, including many Quakers, to nuclear weapons and in particular testing in our region. Events will include the singing of this song that has been recently written by Marshall Islanders about nuclear tests.

There will be events to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the first nuclear bomb detonated in the Pacific by the USA.  Our guests have also invited us to ‘Talanoa’ – to talk together – about how we might together decolonise our faith.  More details below.
